ABERDEEN have crashed out of the Scottish Cup after a shock defeat to West of Scotland Premier League leaders Darvel tonight.

It will go down as one of the biggest upsets in the history of the competition with the sixth tier outfit progressing to the fifth round after the win.

Jordan Kirkpatrick’s first half strike was the goal that separated the two sides throughout the 90 minutes, despite Duk and Ryan Duncan’s best efforts in front of goal.

And the result has done Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin no favours as pressure had already started to mount on the gaffer’s future following their dismal 5-0 defeat to Hearts last week.

Speaking after the humiliating defeat to Robbie Neilson’s Jambos, he insisted he would never “chuck in the towel” and that he was “not a beaten man”.

But now, it looks like it’s a matter of when he will be shown the door at Pittodrie, rather than IF.

Darvel will face Falkirk in the fifth round after knocking out Aberdeen tonight.

More to follow.
