JAMES TAVERNIER has found himself at the centre of debate after being given the highest rated FIFA card out of anyone in Scotland.

It’s that time of year again where the latest edition of the FIFA video game is released and mass debates are sparked in schools, the terraces and even dressing rooms with those at Parkhead and Ibrox no different.

The topic of such debates is of course player ratings, with some reactions being better than others.

And the Rangers captain was given a rating of 78 out of a possible 99 which was at least a point higher than his closest competitor and it has left fans across the country saying the same thing.

Fans have been left reeling after the English captain was named the standout player despite having an influential campaign at Ibrox.

He lead his side to the Europa League final, where he was the tournaments top scorer, as well as Scottish Cup glory before signing a new long term contract earlier this season.

ALL OVER

Ex-Rangers star Lewis Macleod forced to retire aged just 28

But the decision to name him as the top rated player in the country has sparked fury across the country.

Tavernier’s closest competitor is Celtic captain Callum McGregor, who is rated one point lower at 77.

Other notable names such as Jota, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Aaron Mooy have been rated at 76.

Hoops striker Kyogo Furuhashi, defender Josip Juranovic alongside Rangers duo John Lundstram and Glen Kamara have been rated at 75.

And this has left many disagreeing with the list, venting their fury on social media.

One fan said: ” Jota best player in Scotland by a country mile and that’s coming from a Rangers fan….”

Another joked: “At penalties?”

One disgruntled punter commented: “Not even the best player at his club”

One fan insisted: “Refuse to believe that even Rangers fans would agree with that.

“He isn’t even the best player for their club never mind the best player in Scotland.

“A good player for Europe in one season but he is also serially caught out of position by every team not facing relegation.”
